To the Red Hen

I was throwing corn your way.
I laughed when you ran.

You flew into the house.
I chased you.
You tried to fly thru glass.
I picked you up, & threw you thru the doorway.

When I took your eggs,
the black gleam in your eyes you aimed at me!

Forgive me as I leave the valley—forgive, & forget.

Je jetais du grain sur ton passage.
Je riais lorsque tu courais.

Tu pénétrais dans la maison.
Je te chassais.

Tu essayais de t’envoler par le fenetre.
Je te remassais
et te renvoyais par la porte.

Quand j’ai pris tes oeufs
tu as dirigé sur moi
la lueur noir de tes yeux.

Pardonne-moi tandis que je quitte la vallée.
Pardonne et oublie.
