1.7 Of Silence, Energy, Courage, Dark

Does the silence
of those who were encouraging
mean that what I’m doing
no longer buoys their efforts,
that I’m merely posing
in heroic profile now
like Napoleon
on his rearing white horse,
betraying liberation?

Or only that they must—
as I find I must, too, again—
gather energy & courage for the next move
into the daunting dark that has gathered
to meet the approach of each of us?
