7.7 Aspiration

I don’t want to die with my talents
undeveloped & unexpressed
& coping with deprivation
wears me out
but I don’t aspire to be acclaimed
by those who have deserted
the victims of injustice & misfortune—
I only aspire to gain
resources, influence, & power
while still relatively healthy & sane
to help myself
& those unable to help themselves.
